Who We Are

We are a not-for-profit organization with the purpose to promote interest and participation in the sports of skiing and snowboarding and to promote increased safety in those sports.  Our membership includes individuals and families of all ages, interests and abilities.  We are active year-round offering winter and summer trips, recreational activities and social events such as; “1st Tuesday” monthly meetings, “Skiers’ Night Out” after-work happy hours and themed events.  We operate through member volunteers who organize, plan and manage all club activities and events.  We are governed by a Board of Directors who oversee the actions of our Officers and Committees.   Activities are open to guests; but only members may sign up for trips, volunteer for committees or serve on the Leadership Team.

What are the benefits of membership?

  • Meet people who share an interest in skiing, boarding, winter & summer sports and just having fun.
  • Learn skills and procedures to keep safe while skiing and boarding.
  • Experience great trips to destinations throughout the west and around the world.
  • New to skiing?  Travel with seasoned enthusiasts who are happy to “show you the ropes”.
  • Enjoy volunteerism?  This is an organization that operates through member volunteers who plan and manage club activities and we “give back” to the greater Kansas City community through our Community Projects service committee.
  • Save on merchandise offered at a discount through our vendor “partners”.

Must I be a skier to join the club or travel on trips?

What about trips?

The Club organizes & manages ski trips to national and international destinations; although most trips are to Colorado via sleeper motor coach.  Destinations beyond Colorado are typically via train or plane.   International trips include an optional sightseeing extension.  Trip pricing includes lodging and transportation.  Lift tickets, equipment rental and optional activities are in addition to the trip price.  Check out schedules and other trip information on the Trip Info page.

How do I sign up for a ski trip?
It’s easy!  The winter trip schedule is posted online during the summer months.   The 2014-15 Winter Trip Schedule lists all the basics with Trip Captain’s contact information, destination and lodging, and other ‘need to know’ information.  Just click on the trip name to be taken to the page with more details for that trip.  Sign up opens for trips in September.  Members may sign up online or download a trip application and send it, with deposit, to the Trip Captain. Once signed up, trip participants receive updates from the Trip Captain.

When should I sign up for a trip?
Don’t wait! Sign up as soon as the trips open; “favorites” sell out early.

What kind of outdoor activities are offered on winter trips?

You name it:  Alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating, dog sledding and sleigh rides.  Some resorts offer zip lines and children’s activity centers with trampolines, tube sledding and nature centers.  New to skiing?  All resorts offer lessons for skiers and boarders of any ability.  Improve your skiing experience by taking the NASTAR challenge, a fun race course suitable for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities.

No.  The club secures discounts for online equipment rental of skis, poles, snowboards, boots and helmets.

What other trip activities are there?
Folks who are new to the club have an opportunity to meet other trip participants prior to departure at a “Pre-trip Party”.  A “Trip Captain’s Welcome Party” is held during the trip and often, optional group outings are planned for dining out or special day trips.

What If I need to cancel off a trip?
A $30.00 fee applies to cancellation by trip participants on bus/non-air trips and $50.00 on air trips, plus forfeiture of trip payments remitted up to the cancellation date, unless a replacement is found. Participants are also responsible for any other trip liabilities and additional cancellation fee as stated on trip flyer.
