About this event
On January 5, 1955, ten people gathered to hold a preliminary meeting of what was to become the Kansas City Ski Club. On February 1st, the first meeting was held, at which Boyd Miller was elected President. The ambitious Club established a Board of Directors and many working committees and scheduled five ski trips. Dues were established at $6.00 for couples and $4.00 for single members.
This year we have over 300 members and will be executing 5 trips to different ski areas, having come full circle from that small group of like-minded skiers to a high of over 3,000 members and over 50 ski trips, to our present dedicated group of volunteers who continue to believe in and enjoy the power of group skiing.
We want to celebrate our 70th Anniversary with an appropriate party which is being planned for April 12, 2025. We have booked the location, Shawnee Town Hall, and a live band will be performing.
If you are interested in planning the party and have other ideas to commemorate the anniversary, please contact me with your ideas.
